Most coffee is grown in the tropical Coffee Belt around the equator, across the Americas, Africa and Asia. Local climate, altitude and growing conditions help shape the coffee in your cup.

For upcoming & established coffee shops

Build a stronger
barista team.

Preparing to open a coffee shop or developing an established team? On-site coaching helps your baristas deepen their expertise in espresso extraction and latte art. Train on your café’s equipment and drinks menu, using your own beans—or coffee supplied by Alex by arrangement.

Espresso, understood.

Develop a practical approach to dialling in: grind adjustment, dose, beverage yield, brew ratio and extraction time. Use tasting to recognise imbalance and make informed adjustments rather than relying on a single recipe.

Latte art, refined.

Work on milk texture, temperature control, pitcher position and pouring technique. Progress from hearts and tulips towards rosettas and more detailed designs as skills develop.

Premium Speciality Coffee Masterclasses.

For experienced baristas ready to take their craft further. Personalised, premium coaching in sensory evaluation, recognising extraction faults, developing espresso recipes and adapting grind, dose and yield to different speciality coffees. Explore milk texture, advanced latte art and repeatable quality checks using your own setup.

Training builds on your existing experience, with goals and practical exercises agreed before the session.

Consistency across the team.

Agree a repeatable preparation routine, practise checking shots and align milk texture and presentation across baristas. Focus training on the gaps that matter most to your café.

Purposeful training built around your team: practical exercises, individual feedback and repeatable routines for everyday service.

Bring the café home

You have the setup.
I bring the know-how.

Alex visits your home or coffee shop for hands-on training using your own machine and grinder.

Your equipment checklist

  • An espresso machine with a working steam wand—such as a La Marzocco Linea Mini, Victoria Arduino Eagle One or Rancilio.
  • An espresso grinder. Use your own fresh coffee beans, or Alex can bring coffee for the session.
  • Milk, cups and a milk pitcher ready for practice.
  • A clear workspace, water and access to your machine.

For home lessons, other espresso machines costing £500 or more are welcome for consideration. Price alone does not determine suitability: include your machine and grinder models so Alex can confirm the setup before a visit.

Can beginners and experienced baristas train?

Yes. Home lessons can start with the basics; café training can focus on refining extraction, troubleshooting and advanced pouring technique. Content is tailored to the participants.

Where do lessons take place?

At your home, upcoming coffee shop or established café, once suitable equipment is available. London visits are subject to postcode and availability confirmation.

Can Alex bring the coffee?

Yes. You can use your own beans, or Alex can bring coffee for your home lesson or café training. Coffee arrangements are included in your session quote.

Can I practise with alternative milk?

Tell Alex which milk you use so the session can be planned around it. Results and technique can vary by milk.
